Artist Po Shu Wang and his proposed 8-foot stainless steel sculpture symbolizing a phoenix rising was approved by the Arts in Public Places committee on May 6th. The piece is called ‘Intersecting Infinity.’ As part of his description, Wang says “the new Fire Station 5 embodies both the metaphorical and literal meanings of the phoenix that rises from the ashes.” The original Fire Station 5 on Newgate Court was destroyed during the 2017 Tubbs Fire. The new station, under construction in the Fountaingrove neighborhood, will feature this sculpture, symbolizing the community’s resilience and renewal.

Meth and Drug Paraphernalia Found in Rohnert Park Traffic Stop
A meth pipe and suspected meth were found during a traffic stop in Rohnert Park. Yesterday, an officer pulled over a vehicle for an obstructed license plate and a broken brake light, as well as a turn signal violation. The driver had a suspended license, and the passenger was on Sonoma County probation and subject to search. During the search of the vehicle, the officer found a meth pipe, various drug paraphernalia, and 26 grams of suspected meth. Ultimately, it was the driver, Wesley Auten, who was cited to appear for driving on a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
