Two Georgia firefighters , who'd allegedly been in a "toxic" relationship, have been found dead in a car in Tennessee after a week-long manhunt.

The pair, Raegan Anderson and Chandler Kuhbander, both 24, disappeared on June 24 from a Crunch gym parking lot, sparking a cross-state search. Their bodies were discovered in Raegan's car in Cocke County, Tennessee, 450 miles away from their last known location.

The authorities have not released any details about the cause of death or the condition of the bodies. According to Jane, Chandler's mother, the couple had been in a "toxic" relationship for seven years. She claimed that Raegan had difficulty dealing with their recent breakup and was harassing her son.

Jane alleged that Raegan had threatened to commit suicide after their split. She said that Chandler was seen leaving the Crunch gym in Savannah, Georgia, appearing "very comfortable, like he just had his workout".

She told WJCL: "He doesn't look rushed as he walks through the parking lot. After that, we don't see him again." While Chandler was inside the gym, Raegan circled the parking lot multiple times, according to Jane, who had viewed security footage.

The video shows Chandler heading towards his car, but Jane believes that he got into Raegan's Ford "under duress", and then they drove off together. In a desperate Facebook appeal, Jane claimed her son was "coerced" into vanishing.

She posted: "He is last known to have been coerced by a woman named Raegan Anderson. She is a danger to herself and he is believed to not be with her willingly! ! !" Later, she clarified: "I want to clarify this situation. Raegan is not a bad person she is a great firefighter. she is lost, unstable and losing what she has known for 7 years. They were/are not good for each other. She is making bad decisions because of this."

CCTV footage showed Raegan at a South Carolina gas station, coinciding with the last location of Chandler's phone signal, as per Daily Mail.

Tragically, a week later, police discovered the couple deceased in their vehicle in Cocke County, Tennessee. Jane recounted that her son had been harassed by Raegan post-breakup.

"He was telling me she was blowing up his phone, and he said that she had threatened that she was going to commit suicide," Jane revealed. "And it's not the first time that she's done it."

Prior to their disappearance, Raegan faced arrest for vandalizing Chandler's car when she saw him on a date. Jane alleges that Raegan penned a suicide note to her son on the day they disappeared, while Chandler attempted to comfort her despite their recent split.

Speaking to Court TV, she stated: "He's very driven to do the right thing and make sure people are safe. He really does care about Reagan."

Their cause of death is currently under investigation, with an autopsy being conducted as many question the circumstances surrounding their demise. A police statement explained that "Details pertaining to the discovery of their bodies, vehicle and events leading to their deaths are not available at this time."

Chandler's sister shared her grief on Facebook saying: "It's tearing me apart to even think about not having you here. Never in my life did I think I would have to be doing life without you. It's always been my two big brothers but now it's just me and Xander. We will honor you in every way possible. No one will ever not know who you are and how good of a person you are. I love you forever bub."
