Two Georgia firefighters, who were reportedly in a "toxic" relationship, have been found dead in a car in Tennessee following a week-long manhunt.

The duo, Raegan Anderson and Chandler Kuhbander, both 24, vanished on June 24 from a Crunch gym car park, sparking a cross-state search. Their bodies were discovered in Raegan's car in Cocke County, Tennessee, 450 miles away from their last known location.

It comes amid another disturbing missing person's case involving the 14-year-old son of a former NFL star .

The authorities have not disclosed any details about the cause of death or the state of the bodies. According to Jane, Chandler's mother, the couple had been in a "toxic" relationship for seven years.

She claimed that Raegan had difficulty dealing with their recent breakup and was harassing her son. Jane alleged that Raegan had threatened to commit suicide after their split. She said that Chandler was seen leaving the Crunch gym in Savannah, Georgia, appearing "very comfortable, like he just had his workout".

She told WJCL: "He doesn't look rushed as he walks through the parking lot. After that, we don't see him again."

While Chandler was inside the gym, Raegan circled the car park multiple times, according to Jane, who had viewed security footage.

The video shows Chandler heading towards his car, but Jane believes that he got into Raegan's Ford "under duress", and then they drove off together. In a desperate Facebook appeal, Jane claimed her son was "coerced" into vanishing.

She posted on her social media: "He is last known to have been coerced by a woman named Raegan Anderson. She is a danger to herself and he is believed to not be with her willingly! ! ! " Later, she added further clarification: "I want to clarify this situation. Raegan is not a bad person she is a great firefighter. she is lost, unstable and losing what she has known for 7 years. They were/are not good for each other. She is making bad decisions because of this."

CCTV footage pinpointed Raegan at a petrol station in South Carolina, aligning with the final known location of Chandler's phone signal, according to the Daily Mail.

Sadly, the following week, police located both of them dead inside their vehicle in Cocke County, Tennessee. Jane shared that post-breakup, her son had been faced with relentless harassment from Raegan.

"He was telling me she was blowing up his phone, and he said that she had threatened that she was going to commit suicide," revealed Jane. "And it's not the first time that she's done it."

Ahead of their vanishing act, Raegan was facing arrest charges for damaging Chandler's car when she spotted him out on a date. According to Jane, Raegan left behind a suicide note written to her son on the day they went missing, even as Chandler was trying to console her despite their recent parting ways.

In conversation with Court TV, she expressed: "He's very driven to do the right thing and make sure people are safe. He really does care about Reagan."

The circumstances of their passing are currently being looked into, with post-mortem examinations underway as many raise questions about the events leading to their tragic end. The police have stated that "Details pertaining to the discovery of their bodies, vehicle and events leading to their deaths are not available at this time."

Chandler's sister expressed her sorrow on Facebook, writing: "It's tearing me apart to even think about not having you here. Never in my life did I think I would have to be doing life without you. It's always been my two big brothers but now it's just me and Xander. We will honor you in every way possible. No one will ever not know who you are and how good of a person you are. I love you forever bub."
