    William Nunn, 81

    William Nunn, of Cocoa, Florida passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, January 26, 2024 at the age of 81 at Rockledge Regional Hospital in Rockledge Florida. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Libby Nunn in 2001, and an infant grandson Carter Pollitt in 2009.

    He is survived by one daughter Pam (Donnie) Kelch of Georgetown, Ohio and one son Greg (Claudia) Nunn of Winter Park, Florida. He has two grandchildren, Brandy (Jay) Pollitt and Brandon (Samantha) Kelch. He is survived by 6 living great- grandchildren, Mary Pollitt, Hanna Pollitt, Connor Pollitt, Colin Pollitt, Blane Kelch and Coy Kelch. He has one great- great grandson due in May 2024. He has 2 living brothers Gene (Gloria) Nunn and Sterling (Eva) Nunn He was proceeded in death by two brothers Don (Pearl) Nunn and Gary (Pam) Nunn He is also survived by brother- in- laws, Wayne Tincher, and Roy (Charlotte) Tincher, He is survived by sister- in- laws Wanda (Ray) Hall, Linda (Don ) Toy and Kate (Ray) Brannock. He is also, survived by several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews, and several great- great nieces and nephews.

    He was an honorably discharged United States Marine. He was always proud of his service to our great country.

    Mr. Nunn was an Ohio State Highway Patrolman for 21 years when he and Libby packed up and moved to Florida. He worked for The Florida State Corrections System transporting prisoners until he became a Brevard County Deputy Sheriff. Where he would retire after 16 years of service in 2002

    After retirement and the loss of the love of his life, he started visiting the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge where he would become a volunteer. Mr. Nunn logged well over 8000 hours as a volunteer. He assisted with turtle walks, butterfly counts, photographing controlled burns, tours, turtle rescues and various other work. He made several lifelong friends at the refuge. He had several pictures published on the refuge site and brochures. He also has wildlife pictures on display at the refuge.

    Mr. Nunn was an avid photographer. He loved taking pictures of wildlife such as eagles, manatees and roseate spoonbills. He traveled out west to The Badlands, Custer State Park and Neal Smith National Wildlife refuge with two of his beloved brothers Gene and Sterling. They made several trips together over the years. The thing he was most proud of and happy to be around was his family. He loved telling stories about the wildlife center and trips out west. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
