Teen dies after being hit by a car while crossing busy Route 30 intersection: coroner

A teen died last week after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a road in Springettsbury Township, according to the York County Coroner's Office.

Quinterrion Smith, 17, of Coffeeville, Mississippi died Friday morning at WellSpan York Hospital, a release states. The cause and manner of death is pending an autopsy, which is scheduled for Wednesday morning.

The crash happened Thursday evening in the area of Route 30 and North Hills Road, the release states. The teen had been traveling with his basketball team.

The teen was crossing the road with a group of friends around 10:11 p.m. Thursday when he was hit by a vehicle and suffered critical injuries, the release states.

Springettsbury Township Police are investigating the crash.

The driver is cooperating with police, the release states.
