Dirt work resumes for Emporia’s next hotel
Dirt work has resumed for a new hotel in northwest Emporia. Planning has been underway for months to build a new Fairview hotel facility at 3010 Eaglecrest, the former Montana Mike’s location. The plan is for a nearly 90-room hotel and convention center. Work is beginning three months after the Emporia City Commission approved a development agreement in April — and after the city granted Community Improvement District status for that property and the Hampton Inn next door at 2900 Eaglecrest.
Nebraska girls club soccer team wins national championship
WICHITA, Kan. - Nebraska Select 18G won the US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup on Tuesday, in Wichita, Kan. Select is the only year-round competitive soccer program for high school-aged boys and girls west of Lincoln. The team led by former UNK soccer head coach Mike Munch went undefeated in pool play to earn the #1 seed for bracket play. Select defeated 1776 United (PA) 6-2 in the semifinals on Monday morning to advance to the championship where they defeated Lakeshore United FC (WI) 4-1.
