Hospital Donates to Fire Department
Employees of Memorial Health System in Abilene wore blue jeans at work for another “Jeans Day” fundraiser on Fridays throughout the month of June. According to the hospital, employees make a donation of at least $5 and are allowed to wear blue jeans at work. A total donation of $750 was donated to the Herington Fire Department for CPR training.

Great Bend Administrator apologizes for short stint in position
Last week, Great Bend City Administrator Brandon Anderson submitted his resignation, giving the city a 30-day notice. Hired last summer, Anderson’s stay with the city was just over a year. City of Lawrence mulls allowing alcohol to be consumed on the go downtown
Patrons could soon be allowed to drink alcoholic beverages as they roam certain areas of downtown Lawrence. With KU football games slated for Kansas City for at least the upcoming season while Memorial Stadium undergoes major renovations, “the City Commission asked staff to work with stakeholders to look into a Common Consumption Area (CCA) for Downtown Lawrence,” according to the meeting agenda.
