Coleman's Kurth, Lamine toss combined no-hitter against Niagara

    Coleman 1, Niagara 0

COLEMAN — Logan Kurth and Logan Lamine combined to toss a no-hitter as the Coleman Cougars edged Niagara 1-0 in Marinette and Oconto Conference action on Thursday.

Kurth got the start and befuddled the Badgers with six-and-one-third innings of quality work that saw the senior rack up an eye-popping 17 strikeouts to go with just three walks issued.

Kurth needed 101 pitches to carve through the first 22 Niagara batters before Lamine came on in relief and recorded back-to-back strikeouts to end the game.

Top-tier pitching was the name of the game for both teams on Thursday, as Mason Richtig was virtually untouchable on the mound for the Badgers.

Richtig spun six innings and allowed only one hit, an RBI-single by Gavin Pusick, and did not issue a single free pass while collecting seven punchouts in the process.

Pusick’s RBI base knock allowed Karson Risner, who had reached base on an error, to come around and score the game’s lone run in the bottom of the third inning.

Richtig, Blake Holmes and Gavin Neuens all got on base via walks, with Holmes tallying a pair of steals.

The Badgers stranded two runners on base.
