    Kurth, Coleman carve up Cavaliers

    2024-04-30

MARINETTE — Logan Kurth did a bit of everything for the Coleman baseball team in Monday’s 17-2, five-inning thumping of Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy.

Kurth pitched two innings of no-hit ball, walking two and striking out three, and was equally potent with his bat, going 2-for-4 at the dish with a triple, a home run and three RBIs.

Coleman (8-1 M&O Conference, 12-2 overall) jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the top of the third before the Cavaliers struck back in their half of the frame behind RBIs from Teagan Anderson and Tug Paidl.

STAA (1-6 M&O, 2-8 overall) managed to muster just one base runner the rest of the game after Ethan King socked a single to lead off the bottom of the fourth.

By then, the Cougars were enjoying a 15-run cushion after plating seven runs in the top of the inning.

Henry Piasecki was the losing pitcher after getting tagged for 11 hits, 15 runs (all earned) and four walks through three innings of work.

Coleman out-hit the Cavaliers 13–4 behind multi-hit afternoons from Kurth, Cole Berth, Wyatt Bieber and Miles Lewis.

Paidl and Anderson each had a base knock for STAA, both them doubles, while King and Calvin Peters notched a single each.
