Suburban high school sends students home early due to lunch worker ‘shortage'
A suburban Chicago school district will send students home early for the second day in a row due to a "shortage" of food service workers. In a message posted to its website and social media pages Thursday morning, Ottawa Township High School District 140 said "Due to unforeseen circumstances regarding a shortage of properly certified food service personnel lunch will not be served and students will be dismissed at 11:13 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, and dismissed at 10:33 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024."
15-year-old charged with attempted murder for Tuesday night shooting in Peoria
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A 15-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm for shooting another teenager on Tuesday. According to the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office, the charges were filed in the juvenile division of Peoria County Circuit Court. But Yates told us later in the week, following the swearing in of new Probationary Police Officer Jose Munoz; that despite a drop in violent crime or property crime, and despite a significant drop in shots fired incidents, such as 306 in 2020 to 91 in 2023; the job of the Danville Police Force is to never be satisfied.
