Kirk Herbstreit is in hostile territory.

Nine months after the longtime college football analyst argued vociferously against an undefeated Florida State from making the College Football Playoff, Seminoles fans expressed their dissatisfaction loud and clear.

During ESPN's Week 0 "College GameDay" in Ireland ahead of Associated Press No. 10 Florida State game against Georgia Tech, the longtime college football analyst was booed by fans every time he spoke.

Last season, Florida State went 13-0 ahead of the final CFP rankings, but several commentators, including Herbstreit, lobbied for Alabama, which was 12-1 at the time, to make the playoff because of Seminoles quarterback Jordan Travis' season-ending knee injury in Week 12.

A fiery Herbstreit fanned the flames of the rivalry with Florida State fans on social media last year, writing, "Alabama is BETTER!! Period! So is Texas. So is Michigan. So is Washington. So is Oregon. So is Georgia."

In the same post, he described fans upset with the snub as part of a "despicable, lunatic fringe."

He finished his December post writing, "I am a huge fan of Coach Norvell's and his team and wish the Noles nothing but the best," but that fell on deaf ears based on the reception he received on Saturday.

According to ESPN Bet , Florida State (+300) is the favorite to win the ACC in head coach Mike Norvell's fifth season.

With the expanded 12-team playoff, the Seminoles don't need to worry about being left out of the playoff if they win their conference this season.

Fans might not have much to boo about later, so maybe they'll get it out of their system today.
