A lot more is expected out of both Wisconsin and Western Michigan this season.
The Badgers have Alabama and a trip to USC coming up, so they need this and next week’s tune-up against South Dakota to get up to speed - and be more consistent and sharp than they were last year.
Western Michigan should be stronger in the second season under head coach Lance Taylor, but this is a tough way to get 2024 off the ground.

There’s just enough in place defensively to be a bother.
The Bronco defensive front will get hammered on if the Badgers go back to pounding the rock, but the linebacking corps is a strength and the secondary - while thin - can tackle.

Can Wisconsin come out and just blast away an inferior opponent, just to show that it can?
Last year the Luke Fickell era opened with a mediocre performance against Buffalo, followed by a loss to Washington State, followed by a meh game against Georgia Southern. If this thing is working, this has to be over almost immediately.
Wisconsin will start strong, hit a lull, and then pull away in the second half. The D will have a nice night.
