The defense wasn’t all that bad and should be far stronger, at least up front.
The Zips have a good-looking defensive line that should crank up the pass rush a bit. This is an aggressive group that will push the Ohio State O line a bit.

Akron might not score.
The Ohio State defense was already fantastic, and then it got S Caleb Downs from Alabama to take things up another notch.
The offensive side can take a few chances. New starting QB Will Howard can press it a bit down the field, but the ground game should take over as the game goes on.
No matter what happens on the offensive side, that defense will take over by overwhelming the Akron O line from the start.

It’ll score on the first two drives and the defense will take over from there.
Remember, Michigan was the only team to score more than 17 on the Buckeye defense last year. Any Akron points will come by pulling teeth. Ohio State will look the part.
