It’s the first game as a Big Ten program for Oregon, and this is the first step in an interesting September. The Ducks play Boise State next, get a trip to Corvallis to deal with a grouchy Oregon State, and then the Big Ten season starts at UCLA.
First, they have to get by one of the best teams in the FCS. Idaho is seventh in the first FCS Top 25 with an efficient style that controls the tempo.

This isn’t the Oregon of old that went 1000 miles per hour and didn’t care about the clock, but if the Vandals can somehow have the ball for 33ish minutes …
Why Oregon Will Win
The Idaho defense won’t win third downs.
Overall the team is good enough to be in the hunt for the FCS Playoffs and come up with another great year, but it’s going against an Oregon team that should once again be brilliant and keeping the chains moving.
The Ducks were third in the nation in third down covers and No. 1 in the country in turnovers lost. It’s a new team with Dillon Gabriel in and Bo Nix a Denver Bronco, but it should be more of the same.
Oregon vs Idaho: Who Will Win
To have any sort of a shot, Idaho has to win the turnover battle by a mile and be in control of the style and pace of the game throughout. None of that will happen.
Oregon will come out hot, Gabriel will look great, and a strong first half will put this away easily. That’s nothing against Idaho. Oregon will play that well.
