Oregon vs Boise State Prediction, Game Preview, and Betting Lines

    By Pete Fiutak,

It wasn’t exactly the smoothest of rides for two teams with realistic College Football Playoff hopes.

Oregon had to work WAY too hard to get by Idaho 24-14, Boise State won a 56-45 thriller over Georgia Southern, and now these two should put on a fun show that might just be a preview of a CFP first round game with the right twists and turns.

Boise State gets a blowout date against Portland State next, and Oregon has a rivalry road trip to deal with Oregon State, but for now, these two are playing one of the most interesting games of the weekend - and worth staying up for.

    And worth getting Peacock for.

    Why Boise State Will Win

    Ashton Jeanty is special.

The Boise State running back took off for 267 yards and six touchdowns on just 20 carries, but he wasn’t alone in the fun against Georgia Southern.

Running mate Sire Gaines gained 110 yards, surprising starting QB Maddux Madison was sharp outside of one pick, and overall, the offense was fantastic.

Obviously Oregon is a whole different world, but last week it showed just how much work it needs to do. The O line wasn’t totally awful, but it wasn’t good, there wasn’t any running game, and …

    Why Oregon Will Win

Okay, look. Oregon wasn’t good against an FCS team. Idaho is a strong FCS team, but while Georgia, Texas, and Ohio State were putting up massive numbers on the board, the Ducks needed a big fourth quarter to survive.

For those who didn’t watch the game - how should I put this - it was like Oregon forgot it was supposed to score.

It totally dominated the game, the defense was more than fine, and the offense was seemingly always on the field.

Transfer QB Dillon Gabriel wasn’t perfect, but he dinked and dunked his way to 380 yards on a 41-of-49 day. If you think that was pretty good …

Oregon vs Boise State: Who Will Win

Georgia Southern QB JC French carved up Boise State’s secondary.

Actually, is was more like he carved up the second level of the Bronco defense, but he threw well, ran well, and gave the Broncos fits all game long. Gabriel is about to do the same.

There will still be plenty of questions about Oregon, but there won’t be any issues with a strong second half as the lines start to take over.
