After announcing Thursday afternoon that Michael Phelps would serve as the guest picker for "College GameDay's" Week 2 showcase from Ann Arbor, Michigan, the program also revealed that comedian and actor Will Ferrell would be joining as a celebrity guest on Saturday's show.

While it does not appear Ferrell has any direct ties to either the Michigan Wolverines or the Texas Longhorns, the former "Saturday Night Live" actor and renowned comedian will surely have some way of entertaining the crowd in Ann Arbor on Saturday.

"College GameDay" will be telecast from Michigan's Ferry Field, the original college football stadium for the Wolverines program, before Michigan Stadium's completion in 1927. Ferry Field is also where former Ohio State runner and Olympian Jesse Owens set three world records and tied another as a sophomore at the 1935 Big Ten Conference Championships.

Saturday's broadcast will also be the sixteenth time Michigan has hosted the premier pregame show, which ranks third all-time behind Alabama and Ohio State.

Ferrell had appeared on the show previously when he was a guest picker on the Oct. 30, 2010 broadcast, in which the USC Trojans hosted the then-top-ranked Oregon Ducks.

Regardless of the antics, Ferrell showcases on the broadcast, the contest at hand between the No. 10-ranked Wolverines and No. 3-ranked Longhorns has been hyped up to be one of the best matchups in the early portion of the 2024 college football season.

As per usual, "College GameDay" will begin at 9 a.m. ET on ESPN and will lead up to the kickoff of the Michigan vs. Texas clash at noon ET.

The broadcast of the top-ten showdown will be aired on Fox, while ESPN will transition into the broadcast of the No. 17-ranked Kansas State Wildcats visiting the Tulane Green Wave directly following the conclusion of the "College GameDay."
