Everyone handed Miami the ACC Championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff, but the Canes didn’t have to play Georgia.

The Mountaineer running game is dangerous, Joey Aguilar is coming off a 326-yard passing day, and Clemson had better be ready for another efficient attack.
The Tiger defense gave up 28 second half points to Georgia with no pressure from the front, no key stops, and zero help from the offense.

Appalachian State isn’t Georgia.
The Clemson passing game that couldn’t do anything down the field should be able to start connecting. The overall defensive speed should be able to hold up against the Mountaineers going wide, and the defensive tackles that got hammered on will start to dominate.

So let’s go with this. Clemson should be really awesome and in the mix for the ACC title and College Football Playoff, but it had better show it here.
Beating up Appalachian State really would be a terrific win - but it’ll take a bit of work to do it.
By the way, Appalachian State is 2-5 in its last seven games against then-Power Five schools, and all five losses were by a touchdown or less.
The last time the program lost by more than a touchdown against a then-P5? Georgia 31-10 to open the 2017 season.
