Colorado Shuts Down Bizarre Deion Sanders Rumor

Following Saturday's tough 28-10 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, a spokesperson for the Colorado Buffaloes dispelled rumors on Monday that head coach Deion Sanders reportedly requested the Colorado marching band play quarterback Shedeur Sanders' song instead of the university's fight song.

While Shedeur's song does indeed play after every touchdown he scores, the spokesperson for Colorado put the rumors to sleep by denying the allegations and explaining the music selection when Shedeur scores.

"This is not true," the Colorado statement read. "Nobody ever asked the band to refrain from playing the fight song. After a touchdown, the band plays 'Glory, Glory, Colorado' and after a point after touchdown, the band plays 'Fight CU,' as has been standard practice for years."

"When Shedeur Sanders scores, the band will wait a moment for a small snippet of Shedeur's song to play before immediately kicking into 'Glory, Glory, Colorado,'" the statement spokesperson further explained. "This is exactly what happened during the game against North Dakota State. This practice is not unique to Shedeur, as the band will wait a moment after a successful field goal to play Alejandro Mata's song before playing 'Fight CU.'"

Deion Sanders also took to social media to defend himself on Monday by stating there needs to be accountability for lies and those who believe them.

While there is some concern about the level of promotion Coach Prime is doing for his sons Shedeur and Shilo, the latest drama is yet another example of how the small intricacies of college football can quickly snowball into a major concern.

Sanders and Colorado travel to Fort Collins next to face off against the rival Colorado State Rams on Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS. The Buffs return home on September 21 for a matchup against the Baylor Bears at 7:00 p.m. ET on Fox.
