But it looked the part, the offense has been dangerous, and it could use a win before diving into the SEC schedule at Auburn next week.

UAB started well with a blowout over Alcorn State, but face planted in a strange 32-6 loss at ULM against former Blazer head coach Bryant Vincent. It starts the American Athletic Conference season next against Navy.

Can the ground game work early on?

The Blazers want to throw - Jacob Zeno has hit 70% of his passes so far - but they’re far better when they run well. Arkansas held up against the run well in the first two games - more on that in a moment - but UAB at least has to give it a try.

The Hogs allowed 326 passing yards to Oklahoma State after focusing too much on star RB Ollie Gordon. Zeno can connect if Arkansas loads up to stop the run, but …

Why Arkansas Will Win

It shouldn’t take that much to slow down the UAB ground game. The Arkansas defensive front has played well so far and should control the front from the start.

UAB’s biggest problem is holding on to the ball. Three turnovers against Alcorn State, three more against ULM, WAY too many penalties, and it gives up way too many plays in the backfield.

Again, focus, focus, focus, focus, FOCUS.

Arkansas didn’t do that at home in Week 3 against BYU last year.

This hasn’t been the most consistent of programs under head coach Sam Pittman, but with Auburn coming up, the energy has to be there and the production has to kick in right out of the gate.

Score early, stop the run, and the Hogs will be fine.
