College football fans have started to voice their opinions on Florida State Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell's recent optimistic comments about quarterback DJ Uiagalelei's play this season.

The Seminoles are off to a nightmarish start to the 2024 campaign following a 20-12 Week 3 loss at home to the Memphis Tigers, which puts the program at 0-3 for the second time in Norvell's five seasons at the helm in Tallahassee.

Through three games, Uiagalelei has completed 56-of-99 pass attempts for 666 total yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. In terms of rushing yardage, he has 23 carries for -14 yards.

In a media session on Monday, Norvell told reporters that he is pleased with the play of the Oregon State and Clemson transfer quarterback, stating "he is giving us a chance." This confident tone almost immediately caused a chasm of fan reactions throughout social media as many have seen the heinously poor play of Uiagalelei plague the Seminoles so far this season.

One Clemson Tigers fan commented that Uiagalelei must be a warlock with the spells he has put on the Seminoles coaching staff.

Another fan replied that the confidence in the struggling quarterback is a sign of incompetence, saying the coach is "cooked."

One fan even asked if Norvell had been watching the same game most of the nation had seen involving the 0-3 Seminoles.

One Florida State fan asked what Norvell defines as giving the team a chance and suggested Norvell may have meant a change to vacation with Jimbo Fisher as former Seminoles head coaches.

Even major sportsbook DraftKings replied with a gif of a dart completely missing the dartboard, stating the gif represented the chance Norvell had mentioned.

Norvell, Uiagalelei and the Seminoles will look to register their first win of the season when the program welcomes the California Golden Bears to Doak Campbell Stadium on Sept. 21. Game time for the Week 4 contest is set for 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcasted on ESPN2.

Odds for the game are currently favoring Florida State by 2 points over California, with an over/under established at 44.5.
