Cincinnati vs Texas Tech Prediction, Game Preview, and Betting Lines

    By Pete Fiutak,

    Is Cincinnati quietly good again?

It lost a 28-27 thriller to Pitt, won the rivalry game against Miami University, and last week rolled in the Big 12 opener against Houston. This starts a run of three road games in four and five in the next seven - it has to steal an away win somewhere.

Texas Tech was lousy in the 37-16 loss at Washington State, but it got back on track hanging 66 on North Texas followed by a strong Big 12 opening win over Arizona State. It starts a run of three road games in four after this.

    Why Cincinnati Will Win

Texas Tech doesn’t really do that defense thing.

It doesn’t generate any pressure, it has a hard time coming up with third down stops, and Cincinnati just has to play it cool. Don’t press, don’t start forcing things, and mix it up to see what works.

Texas Tech couldn’t stop the Washington State running game, had an impossible time with the Abilene Christian passing attack, and it managed to get by North Texas and Arizona State by being more impressive offensively.

The Bearcats have to win the turnover battle, score when there’s a chance, and hold on for dear life because …

    Why Texas Tech Will Win

Texas Tech will wing the ball around in this.

Behren Morton is playing like the seasoned veteran he is, and the Bearcat pass defense has to hold up.

It did a wonderful job against Houston - the Cougars couldn’t stop giving the ball away - but Miami University’s Brett Gabbert and Pitt’s Eli Holstein both went off for over 300 yards.

Cincinnati has been able to keep up the pace when pressed so far, but at home, Texas Tech will throw a whole slew of things at this Bearcat D.

Cincinnati vs Texas Tech: Who Will Win

Oh will this be a fun late night game you have to get into.

Lots of passing, lots of yards, and a whole slew of mood swings - you’re about to get it all.

It won’t exactly be a Last Team With Ball wins sort of thing, but Houston will overcome a few turnovers to rally back, Texas Tech will overcome a ton of penalties to stick around and in the end …

The last team with the ball will win.
