College Football Playoff Top 25 Rankings Prediction Week 8: Big Ten Dominance Up Top

Even after the Ohio State loss to Oregon, and the shaky performance by Georgia against Mississippi State, and the Texas dominance over Oklahoma, we're still not ready to change our original call quite yet.

What we are messing around with is each conference's race starting with one key belief - the ACC and Big 12 will each only get one team in. With the ACC, though, it's more like 1.5 if you count Notre Dame.

Going into Week 8, here's how we think this will shake out.

- Ohio State will run the table including a rematch over Oregon in the Big Ten Championship. The Big Ten will end up getting three teams in the final top five of the rankings, but of course, only the conference champion will earn a top four seed.

- The SEC will come down to the Texas date at Texas A&M at the end of the regular season. The winner will go on to lose to Georgia for the SEC Championship.

The SEC might only have one team finish in the top five, but five conference teams are projected to make the top 12.

- The ACC will be Clemson blowing through the rest of the conference on the way to a 12-1 record and the 3 seed.

- The Big 12 ... bless your heart. The teams will start picking each other off in the most even top-to-bottom conference. However, it won't be top heavy - the Big 12 champion will get in.

- UNLV will beat Boise State in the regular season meeting, but the Broncos will get their revenge in the Mountain West Championship.

So with all of that in mind - and with the idea that anything less than a 9-3 final record need not apply to the top 25 - Ole Miss is projected to go 8-4, by the way - here's our latest prediction of what the final College Football Playoff top 25 will be.
