South Carolina vs Oklahoma Prediction, Game Preview, and Betting Lines

    By Pete Fiutak,

Oklahoma is 4-2. It’s not 2-4, or even 3-3, but after doing absolutely nothing in the 34-3 loss to Texas, and with the offense sputtering, its freakout time in Norman.

At Ole Miss, at Missouri, Alabama, at LSU - the rest SEC slate is brutal for OU. There’s a win against Maine coming, but it’ll be a fight just to get bowl eligible if it loses this.

South Carolina was THIS close to beating Alabama. It has a win over Wofford coming, but with a trip to Vanderbilt now not a sure thing, the remaining schedule is a bear thanks to the regular season ender at Clemson.

Just like Oklahoma, lose, and USC getting bowl eligible will be a problem.

    Why South Carolina Will Win

Can Oklahoma ever get its offense going?

This is the program of offensive powerhouses over the years, and now it’s having an impossible time getting to at least 300 yards.

It got there against Temple and Tulane, but it has yet to hit the mark against an FBS team, hitting a wall last week with just 237 yards against Oklahoma and 222 a few weeks ago against Tennessee.

The Sooners are 130th in the nation in third down conversions, there’s nothing happening down the field - the receiving corps is still banged up - and it starts with an offensive line that gets plowed over too easily. South Carolina’s pass rush is among the best in the country, and …

    Why Oklahoma Will Win

Oklahoma’s pass protection is bad, South Carolina’s is worse giving up over four a game.

No, the OU offense isn’t where everyone wants it to be, but the defense has been good at not breaking after bending with its own great pass rush and playmaking ability behind the line.

South Carolina also has a hard time moving the chains, there’s a massive problem with turnovers and penalties, and the issues are getting worse.

The Gamecocks might have hung around with Bama, but the four turnovers were a killer. They’ve given it up nine times in the last three SEC games, and …

South Carolina vs Oklahoma: Who Will Win

It’s all about the turnover margin in this.

Both offenses are struggling, both offensive lines are leaky, and any mistake will be magnified too much.

Oklahoma hasn’t had an issue with the turnover margin - it was -1 in each of the two losses and in the positive in all four wins. South Carolina hasn’t won the turnover margin since September 7th against Kentucky.
