    Milam County 4-H wins big at Texas 4-H Roundup

    Texas 4-H Roundup was held June 3-7, 2024, in College Station! We had many successes, and we are so excited to share these amazing results! A total of 23 4-H members from Milam County attended the Texas 4-H Roundup.

    Healthy Lifestyles - 1st place - Going to Nationals - Macy McDaniel, Hannah Bakken, Robert Miller, Jack Luckey

    Macy McDaniel - 1st place individual

    Hannah Bakken - 5th place individual

    Robert Miller - 10th place individual

    Grass and Pasture Plant ID - 2nd Place - Jason Ponnaiya, Jenna Lindig, Jack Luckey

    Jason Ponnaiya - 1st place individual

    Jenna Lindig - 2nd place individual

    Public Speaking - 2nd place - Tessa Vaculin

    AG Product ID - 4th Place - Robert Miller, Kaylor Eschberger , Trenton Strmiska

    Invitational Meats Judging Contest - 6th Place - Macy McDaniel, Luke Olivares

    9th Place Qualifying Livestock Judging Contest - Kaylee Beason, Shawn Leifeste, Kenzie Hobbs, Jenna Lindig

    Invitational Livestock Judging - Adison Dach - 12th place individual and 1st place individual swine - Riley Clinard

    The Milam County 4-H members were awarded their Texas 4-H Foundation scholarships this week. Scholarships: Corley Callahan - $10,000, Bradley Bakken - $20,000, Camryn Green - $20,000, and Robert Miller - $5,000.

    We are also proud of our 4-H members, Hannah Bakken and Jadyn Stokley, who attended Healthy Texas Youth Ambassador Summit at Texas 4-H Roundup!! They will be teaching healthy lifestyles in Milam County this year as Healthy Texas Youth Ambassadors!

    Junior Master Photographers, Maddie Basonic and Luke Holcombe worked in the Texas 4-H Roundup photography booth this year. They answered questions about 4-H photography and did an activity with those that came by the booth.

    We want to say thank you to all our coaches and parents who helped assist us this week at Texas 4-H Roundup. They helped check in youth, helped chaperone, and helped coach and prepare teams! Thanks to Elizabeth Miller (healthy lifestyles coach), April Eschberger (ag ID coach), Irby McWilliams (plant ID coach) and Josh Evans (livestock judging coach). They put in countless hours of coaching for these youth!
