Texas A&M baseball was recently rocked by the departure of former head coach Jim Schlossnagle, who abruptly left the program for rival Texas after claiming he didn't want to leave the Aggies.

Everyone has an opinion on the exit, and that includes Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell, who played football at Texas A&M from 1995-98.

Campbell was asked about Schlossnagle leaving during a recent interview on 96.7 The Ticket , and as you'd expect with the Lions head coach, he didn't mince words.

“You try to put yourself in his shoes, and who knows the decisions, the reasons. What do you say, what do you not say? It’s one of those tough moments, I hate to criticize,” Campbell said . “I know this, as an Aggie, I hate to see him go, ’cause he’s a good coach. Immediately after though, he tipped his hand — if ever so slightly. On the flipside, man, hey, sayonara. So, now you’re the enemy, so let’s go beat his a--.”

Schlossnagle spent three seasons with the Aggies, putting together a 135-62 record in the process. He was fresh off leading Texas A&M to its first Men's College World Series appearance and took the Texas job just one day after the Aggies were eliminated from the tournament.

Making matters worse, Schlossnagle was adamant that he would not leave Texas A&M in the presser following the loss.

"I took the job at Texas A&M to never take another job again, and that hasn't changed in my mind," Schlossnagle said after the season-ending defeat. "That's unfair to talk about something like that. ... I gave up a big part of my life to come take this job, and I've poured every ounce of my soul in this job. And I've given this job every single ounce I could possibly give it. So write that."

After a quote like that and seeing Schlossnagle leave for Texas, it's hard to blame Texas A&M fans like Campbell for being upset.
