The Texas A&M Aggies are getting ready for their first Fall Camp under new head coach Mike Elko . Ahead of that camp, he shared an injury update for the team.

It was an overall positive report from Mike Elko, who started with an update on edge rusher Enai White , who suffered a season-ending injury in 2023 that forced him to miss time and have surgery on his knee.

“Enai White is still banged up. He’s still recovering from his knee surgery,” Mike Elko said . “So, he won’t be ready to go right away but we expect him to be ready by the opener.”

White came to Texas A&M as a four-star recruit and the seventh-ranked edge player overall in the Class of 2022 , according to the On3 Industry Ranking. In two seasons with the Aggies, he’s played in 12 games and has 11 tackles, three of which are tackles for a loss and two of which are sacks.

From there, Mike Elko went on to share an update on wide receiver Jabre Barber . In the spring, Barber suffered a seemingly severe foot injury that threatened to end his 2024 season. Luckily, it appears his recovery is going well.

“Jabre Barber is still recovering from his foot injury from spring, but we do anticipate him. He’s on a crash course getting back. He’s way ahead of schedule,” Elko said. “So, he’ll be touch and go for the start of the season but he’ll be back a lot sooner than we had maybe originally anticipated.”

Barber started his career as a wide receiver for the Troy Trojans . He went there as a three-star recruit in the Class of 2020 . In four seasons and 35 games there, he had 132 receptions for 1,674 yards and 10 touchdowns.

For the time being, those two injuries are the only major ones that Elko brought up. If the Aggies can keep from adding anyone else to that list, then Texas A&M is in good shape going into the 2024 season.

“Outside of that, we’re a healthy group and excited to get going this fall,” Elko concluded.

Conner Weigman updates health, recovery process

Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman is feeling good going into Fall Camp, as he recently explained.

“We’re at 100 right now, but yeah it’s been a long, long grind,” Weigman said. “A long offseason. But we got it done. I mean getting something you love taken away from you like that quickly, it was tough for sure. But just taking it one day at a time and being in there with the training room people, they’re some of the best training room people in the nation and they had my back the whole time. I’m good to go and excited about camp. Let’s get this thing started.”

Weigman had a football injury that ended his 2023 season early. It’s an outcome he’s looking to avoid going into this year.
