Civitans hold their July Meeting
The Walterboro Civitan Club held its July 11th meeting at Dukes Barbecue. The meeting was called to order by the ringing of the bell by Civitan Vice President, Paul Capers. The guest speaker was Janis Young of FoCCAS, Friends of the Colleton County Animal Shelter. Young, a Board Member of FoCCAS spoke about the mission of the group to assist the Animal Shelter. FoCCAS raises funds to assist the shelter with Medical Care, Educational Outreach, and Spay and Neutering. The group also provides Pet Food to Food Pantries and Blessing Boxes in Colleton County. Two of the big events for FoCCAS is Annual Walk and Wag and its Paws Fundraiser now in going into its 14th year. She also showed one of the pet calendars this is sold to raise money. Young is excited about the new shelter building to be constructed and gave a brief description of the building and added that they are always looking for volunteers.

FIRST ALERT: Excessive Heat Warnings near the coast today!
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Today is a FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY due to the likelihood of dangerous heat and humidity! An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect today for Charleston, Coastal Colleton and Inland Berkeley counties from 11 AM until 8 PM. A Heat Advisory has been issued for all other areas today. The heat index will exceed 112° in areas near the coast, 108° inland. We may see a few strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Any storms could produce heavy rain, gusty winds and very frequent lightning.
