Marshall County proclaimed July 9, 2024, as Kavares Tears Day – a day that recognized Tears as an exceptional baseball player. Tears played a major part in the University of Tennessee’s baseball team winning the 2024 Men’s College World Series. As Tears neared the Lewisburg Square, the huge crowd clapped and cheered as the instrumental version of “Rocky Top” played. Photographs were taken with his fans and Tears autographed UT flags, baseballs, shirts, and other sports memorabilia – even a shoe! Mayor Mike Keny said a few words, along with Rep.
