The Hartford Township Board met for their regular, monthly meeting on July 11, 2024 where updates on the Van Buren Emergency Services housing project were discussed. Currently, the parking lot behind Hartford Township Hall is not in use due to the need to install the water and sewer lines.

NEW TROY — The sixth Allan Boyd Memorial Strawberry Social brought people together in the gazebo garden behind the New Troy Community Center on July 14. The Strawberry Social has been gifted to the community from the Boyd family, every year since 2018. Both the event and the gazebo (which was also donated by the Boyd family) honor the memory of Allan Boyd (1925-2017).

NEW BUFFALO — Longtime New Buffalo Township Planning Commission member Dolores “Dee” Batchelder was honored during the July 15 Township Board meeting. “Dee was on our Planning Commission for a very long time and was a very valuable member,” said Township Supervisor Michelle Heit, who added, “You ran a great meeting.”
Bridgman 5K/10K has record number of entrants
BRIDGMAN — The 29th Bridgman 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run on July 13 set a record with more than 300 participants. Kim Fenech, one of the event’s organizers, said close to 30 volunteers helped make the fund-raiser possible, adding that the turnout eclipsed last year’s total of 250.
