The N.C. A&T State University Aggies have been climbing the ranks of national recognition and notoriety. Well the Aggies have leveled up, recently they haven't enjoyed some of the successes of their past. However, that hasn't stopped the interest in the Aggies from skyrocketing. Even more households will be introduced to the Aggies this year and the hope is that the additional exposure will help many of the things the Aggies need - including recruiting.

Three Rivers Land Trust helps Patterson family protect 405-acre farm from development
Working with the Three Rivers Land Trust, the Patterson family has protected a large tract of land north of Harmony from development. Three Rivers Land Trust has worked with three separate landowners and their families over the years to conserve over 1,535 acres in this area. This effort began in 1999, with the protection of 640 acres of the Daltonia Plantation. In 2011, the Grose family conserved their adjacent farm which totaled over 490 acres. On July 26, the Patterson family added to that legacy by conserving an additional 405 acres.
Social Media Detectives will see through the smoke
The Mount Airy Library and the Surry County Office of Substance Abuse Recovery will present informative sessions to teach children in third through fifth grade how to understand the meanings of media messages and advertisements as part of the Media Detective program. Second new private school to open in Burlington next month
Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Burlington is launching a new private Christian school that will open for students in kindergarten through third grade on August 26. This marks the second new private Christian school that has recently announced plans to open in Burlington for the 2024-25 school year. ICRCM Sit-in Movement Gala honors civil rights champions
It was a night of dining, dancing, and celebrating freedom as the International Civil Rights Center and Museum (ICRCM) commemorated the 64th anniversary of the lunch counter sit-ins with its annual gala held Saturday, July 20, at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro. This event recalls the courage and commitment of four A&T freshmen, David Richmond, Franklin McCain, Jibreel Khazan (Ezell Blair Jr.), and Joseph McNeil, who bravely challenged the status quo of segregation by sitting down at the lunch counter of the FW Woolworth five-and-dime in downtown Greensboro on February 1, 1960. Museum co-founder Skip Alston said, “When those four young men sat down, the rest of America stood up for freedom, justice and equality. That started the modern-day Civil Rights Movement right here in Greensboro, North Carolina.”
Former Greensboro Mayor says he wants his job back
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Former Greensboro Mayor Robbie Perkins told WFMY News 2 he's attempting to get his old job back. Perkins, who's been out of office since 2013, told WFMY News 2's Chad Silber he intends to run for office in 2025. Greensboro plans for first medical respite center for veterans and unhoused residents
A medical respite center for veterans and people without housing is coming to the city of Greensboro. The Servant Center is a Greensboro nonprofit that helps homeless and disabled individuals as well as veterans become independent.
