One injured after Friday night shooting
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A 17-year-old was taken to a local hospital after a shooting in Peoria on Friday. According to Peoria Police spokeswoman Semone Roth, officers were dispatched on a report of a person being shot at approximately 9:49 p.m. When officers arrived, they learned a teen was transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.

1 person killed in crash in Muscatine
MUSCATINE, Iowa — One person is dead after a fatal crash in Muscatine on Friday night. According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, the crash happened shortly before 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23 in Muscatine. A 2024 Nissan Rogue was traveling south on Taylor Avenue when investigators said they failed to stop at a stop sign before entering Highway 61. A 2021 Dodge Durango was traveling south on the highway and was unable to stop in time, striking the Rogue.

Today was Davenport Community School District’s first day of classes. Our Quad Cities News was there as kids from Eisenhower Elementary School in Davenport showed up for their first day. The district says it’s implementing a new reading curriculum, in addition to updated technology. The district is also working to build positive environments to help students’ futures.
