COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) — Colonial Heights Animal Control is looking for any information on a dog found tied to a tree outside of a local PetSmart in over 90-degree heat.

On Friday, June 29, an Animal Control officer responded to a local PetSmart for report of a dog left outside in the heat. When they arrived, they found what appeared to be a lab mix with light-colored fur, alone, tied to a tree in the parking lot.

Animal Control is asking that anyone with any information on the dog pictured below reach out to the shelter, where the animal is currently being taken care of.

While the dog is safe, Animal Control said they are not doing their best emotionally.

“[The dog is] very timid and scared of the shelter,” officials said.
