My recent visit to King Buffet was a mixed bag of experiences. The restaurant boasts a large, varied buffet with traditional American Chinese offerings, sushi, and a standout DIY Mongolian barbecue. I was particularly impressed with the Mongolian grill where I could pick my own ingredients and the result was both fresh and flavorful. However, the cleanliness and some of the dishes could definitely see some improvement. For instance, the oysters I tried had sand in them, and the sushi didn't taste fresh at all.
Service was a hit or miss. While my plates were cleared promptly and my water glass kept full, I noticed not everyone received the same attentive service. A fellow diner mentioned their water wasn't refilled despite the staff attending to others around them. The environment also felt a bit chaotic, especially with the restaurant being packed and noisy, making it hard to move around comfortably.
Despite these issues, the dessert section was decent, with the butterfly pastries being a delightful surprise. If you're planning a visit, setting your expectations right might help you enjoy what King Buffet does well, like its Mongolian barbecue and desserts.
