Recently, I had the chance to revisit Casa Bonita, a spot that's been generating quite a buzz with its grand reopening. The experience was a mixed bag but certainly memorable. The venue itself has undergone some impressive renovations, bringing life back to its iconic features like Black Bart’s Cave and the divers, which are as entertaining as ever. The puppet show was a hit, appealing to both kids and adults, adding a fun twist to the dining experience.
However, the food was where things got a bit dicey. While some dishes like the carnitas were tender and flavorful, and the salsa was notably good, other elements like the rice and tortillas didn’t hit the mark, feeling underwhelming for the hype. The sopapillas were a sweet end to the meal, thankfully. Service was prompt and the staff was enthusiastic, which did enhance the overall vibe of the place.
Casa Bonita is definitely a spot to consider for a family outing, especially if you’re into lively atmospheres and don’t mind a culinary hit or miss. The blend of entertainment and dining does create a unique experience that’s worth checking out at least once for the novelty.
