Time is running out to savor these local fall flavors

    2023-11-14

(Colorado Springs, CO) Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away and soon the flavors of fall will transition to a new holiday season.

But until then, you can still indulge in these sweet and savory fall treats.

Josh & John's Ice Cream, a local ice cream shop with three locations in Colorado Springs, has a delicious fall flavor - Pumpkin Spice Cake ice cream. The sweet dairy treat is a creamy, refreshing blend of fall flavors that is perfect on a sunny autumn day.

Ice cream lovers can also enjoy a fall treat from Baskin Robbins. The franchise has a unique "Turkey Day Fixin's" flavor - a medley of sweet potato and autumn spice ice cream with honey cornbread pieces and cranberry sauce swirl. It is a festive feast in a cone.

Cookies pair nicely with ice cream, and Mary's Mountain Cookies in downtown Colorado Springs has several fall flavors. The November cookie line-up includes Molasses, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip, and Cranberry White Chocolate Chip.

For many, the quintessential November sweet treat is a slice of pie, and Gold Star Bakery will not disappoint. The bakery, formerly Gold Star Pies, serves delicious fall slices, including Dutch Apple, German Chocolate, and Bourbon Pecan pie.

Gold Star Pies, a dessert food truck, was recently purchased by Blue Star Group and now has a permanent location in Ivywild School (1604 S. Cascade Avenue). The name and location have changed, but the delicious pie is still the same!

The bakery is open Wednesday through Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

For those craving a savory treat, Capriottis, a sandwich franchise with two locations in Colorado Springs (140 E. Cheyenne Road and 5856 Barnes Road), has a fantastic sandwich called "The Bobbie.".

The holiday-themed sub with turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, and mayo offers a taste of Thanksgiving with every bite. It is available year-round but particularly good in November!
