Glen Eyrie offers a rare full castle tour the day after Easter

    2024-03-22

(Colorado Springs, CO) One of the architectural marvels in Colorado Springs is Glen Eyrie Castle.

The English Tudor-style castle sits on a gorgeous parcel of land near Garden of the Gods Park. It was built in the late 1800s as a private residence for William Jackson Palmer, the founder of Colorado Springs.

Today, Glen Eyrie is owned and operated by The Navigators, a Christian ministry organization. They offer year-round public tours of the castle and grounds, but the standard tour only includes the first and second floors, with the upper two levels reserved for hotel and conference guests.

However, once a year, on the Monday after Easter, visitors have a unique opportunity to tour the entire castle.

The extended two-hour tour is possible because Glen Eyrie is closed on Easter Sunday, and there are no overnight guests.

This year, the exclusive Easter Castle Tour is on Monday, April 1st. No joke!

There are seventeen castle guest rooms, including one on the fourth floor, the only room on this level. Castle Room 403 is accessible by several narrow steps and offers stunning panoramic views from the highest part of the castle.

In addition to the guest rooms, there are seven meeting rooms, two dining rooms, and the castle music room.

The guided tour also includes a walk outside to explore the lovely grounds, so please dress accordingly.

Advanced reservations are required, and the tickets are $23 per person. The tour times are every hour from 8:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. Go here for reservations.

Location: 3820 N. 30th Street, Colorado Springs, CO
