(Colorado Springs, CO) There are many treasures in Colorado Springs - Garden of the Gods Park, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and the Art-o-Mat machine at Ivywild School.

The Art-o-Mat is a repurposed cigarette dispenser that now dispenses pocket-sized art pieces.

The hand-made treasures are $5 each, and it is a thrill to pull the lever and see what gem comes out. Artists from around the world contribute to the project and there are up to twenty-two selections at any given time.

The Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region hosts the "Carnival" Art-o-Mat in Ivywild School (1604 South Cascade Ave). It is the only one in Colorado Springs.

There are a few more located around the state. Find the list here.

The art dispenser is just one of the gems in Ivywild School. Built in 1916, the school served the local community for nearly a century before closing in 2009 due to declining enrollment.

It was purchased in 2013 and transformed into a vibrant hub for food, drinks, and community events while retaining its nostalgic charm.
