(Colorado Springs, CO) Memorial Park in Colorado Springs is a beautiful green space with playgrounds, picnic pavilions, and a paved walking path around Prospect Lake.

Unfortunately, Memorial Park has a reputation for mischievous activity at night, and the park has traditionally not been safe after dark.

There are new security measures at the park (gates, lights, cameras), and this will hopefully provide a safer environment for all because the outdoor space is a community treasure worth protecting.

In addition to the recreational opportunities, the park has several stunning memorials to our fallen heroes.

The Veterans Memorial is on the park's east side and has a large sculpture with five granite pillars representing the different branches of service. It was commissioned by American Legion Post 5 and dedicated on November 11th, 1968 (Veterans Day).

Smaller memorials surround the sculpture. The well-designed space provides a beautiful, peaceful setting to honor our fallen heroes.

Memorial Park holds a special place in the hearts of many, and with the enhanced security measures, a brighter, safer future is ahead.

Memorial Park is beautiful. It's too bad crime is rampant. I never go there anymore, especially after dark.
