Oberlin: A Village Rooted in Freedom
In the late 1860’s, the freed enslaved of the Raleigh, North Carolina area founded Oberlin Village. It was the largest Reconstruction Era black settlement in Wake County. By the 1880’s approximately 160 families lived in Oberlin Village. They established churches, a school, and by 1892 Latta University.

Mid-August into September is sunflower season in Colorado. Each August we love to go out to the public roads around the Denver International Airport (DIA) to find giant sunflowers in bloom.

Since 1992, "The Boulder Cruiser Ride" has been doing weekly community bicycle rides in Boulder, Colorado. Also referred to as “Thursday Night Cruiser Ride.”. The weekly cruiser rides have been going on for roughly 30 years and have become a Boulder tradition. On any given Thursday evening in Boulder, from late March through early October, you will find this energy-filled, well lit, and enthusiastic group wishing people "Happy Thursday!"
