(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Heller Center for the Arts and Humanities at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS) is kicking off its summer theatre season with a free outdoor performance of Shakespeare’s Two Gentlemen of Verona .

Two Gentleman of Verona is one of Shakespeare’s comedies, exploring themes of love, friendship, and fidelity as two friends attempt to woo two ladies (and at times the same lady). Hilarity ensues as one of the two can’t make up his mind, and the other attempts to keep the peace. Eventually, everything works out in the end. Also, there’s a dog.

The Heller Center promotes the arts, humanities, and social sciences through talks, exhibits, workshops, and theatrical performances. The center is named after Larry and Dorothy Heller who once owned the property. The Hellers were a socialite couple in Colorado Springs during the mid-twentieth century. Larry was a locally-renowned artist and Dorothy was one of the first women to work for the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and food to enjoy during the performance.

The one-night-only performance is happening Saturday, June 1st at 7 p.m. at 1250 North Campus Heights, in Colorado Springs. The evening is free and open to all ages, and there is no need to register.
