(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The state’s first Veteran Business Outreach Center (VBOC) is celebrating its one-year anniversary this May.

Opened in 2023, the Colorado VBOC located at Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center has seen more than 477 clients and helped them achieve their business dreams.

“Our first year, we saw veterans around the state, and helped them find access to capital, create business plans, assist with marketing,” said the Director of the VBOC Kia Palmer. “Our staff has been traveling around the state to let people know we are here and what we can do to help them create or grow a business.”

The VBOC is designed to provide entrepreneurial development services such as business training, counseling, and resource partner referrals to service members, veterans, National Guard & Reserves members, and military spouses.

To mark the anniversary, the VBOC is hosting a celebration on Friday, May 31 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We are going to showcase our lending partners, and provide additional information to interested business owners,” Palmer said. “People will be able to network and meet other business owners who are also veterans.”

At the event, Palmer will provide a short program on the support services offered by the VBOC.
