(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The community will have multiple ways to celebrate cycling starting Saturday, June 1 with Bike Month kicking off.

The “big day” will take place on Wednesday, June 26; Bike to Work Day encourages riders to partake and cycle to work.

Those who participate can grab free breakfast at any one of more than 30 breakfast stations on the urban trail system and at local businesses throughout the City from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on June 26.

“Bike month is a great time to celebrate our cycling infrastructure, our robust trail network, and the connectivity it provides in the City of Colorado Springs,” said City Planner Theresa Randall. “The experience of cycling to work changes the chemistry of the day – not only through positive human interactions but also with the reduction of stress and increase of energy that results from moderate daily exercise. We are grateful for the local businesses supporting Bike to Work Day and we invite all residents to participate in the activities this month.”

Cycling to work saves money, improves an individual’s health, and lowers stress levels while also reducing traffic and improving air quality.
