    UPDATE: TUESDAY 6/4/2024 2:06 p.m.

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — Sgt. Kurt Smith, Public Information Officer for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) gave an update on an officer-involved shooting investigation in Colorado Springs on Tuesday, June 4.

According to Sgt. Smith, at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, the EPSO Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a disturbance between multiple adults in the 4300 block of Chamberlin South in unincorporated El Paso County, near B Street, in the Stratmoor Hills neighborhood.

According to Sgt. Smith, one person at the location was identified as being armed with a weapon and possibly having warrants for his arrest. When deputies arrived, they encountered an armed suspect, during which time two deputies fired at least one shot before the suspect drove from the scene, allegedly stealing an unmarked Sheriff’s Office vehicle.

“The vehicle was tracked using technology to the Sienna Place Apartments, where deputies contacted the suspect and took him into custody,” said Sgt. Smith. “The deputies rendered medical aid and he was later transported to a local hospital.”

No deputies were injured, however, according to Sgt. Smith, a woman was injured at the first scene on Chamberlin South and was taken to the hospital, where she is now stable.

“There is no ongoing threat to the community. Per EPSO policy, the Colorado Springs Police Department will investigate this officer-involved shooting,” said Sgt. Smith.
