(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Two suspects are under arrest and facing assault and kidnapping charges after allegedly kidnapping two people and keeping them in an apartment for up to two days, occasionally beating them and threatening to kill them.

According to an arrest affidavit, officers originally responded on Monday, June 10, to a report of a kidnapping. A man and woman had reportedly been kidnapped from an apartment unit at the Arbor Point Apartments on Hancock Expressway and taken to another unit in the same complex, where they were held for days and beaten with guns and baseball bats.

The affidavit states that an officer contacted the male victim at a hospital, and noted that the victim had cuts on the back of his head, a swollen eye, and multiple scratches and bruises on his face, arms, and knees. His eye socket was also fractured the affidavit states.

The victim told police that he and his girlfriend had been inside an apartment with a friend on Saturday, June 8, when multiple people came to the door and forced the two victims from the apartment at gunpoint. The victim said once inside another apartment in the same complex, the suspects pistol-whipped them and beat them with a baseball bat for about an hour.

The victim’s statement to police alleged that the suspects were motivated to assault him and his girlfriend because they (the suspects) believed the victims had provided information to law enforcement that resulted in a friend being imprisoned. The two victims were allegedly held in the apartment for up to two days, being beaten and threatened. Neither were tied up or physically restrained, but the suspects said they would kill the victims if they tried to leave.

The male victim said one of the suspects, identified as 24-year-old Joseary Arizmendi, said the victim could leave and get an hour head start before she would start “hunting” him. The victim told police that he hid behind a nearby dumpster, eventually losing consciousness in a ditch and going to the hospital the next day.

The female victim’s statement differed from her boyfriend’s slightly, as she attested they were both walked out to a trail and told to dig their own graves, at which point her boyfriend escaped and she was dragged back inside the apartment.

During a search of the apartment, police found numerous items belonging to the victims, including personal luggage, wallets, phones, and credit cards.

Arizmendi was arrested on Monday on charges of First Degree Assault, Second Degree Kidnapping, and Aggravated Robbery. Another suspect, identified as 35-year-old Linda Guest, was also arrested on Kidnapping and Assault charges. Both are due in El Paso County Court on June 21.
