(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Mayor Yemi Mobolade formally adopted the City’s 2024-2028 Strategic Plan on Friday, June 28 at 10:30 a.m.

“The Strategic Plan serves as the long-term vision for the future direction of the City,” according to a press release, and is the “result of countless hours of community engagement.”

The plan will be used to help the Mayor, City Council, and City Staff understand what is most important to the Colorado Springs community, providing guidance for the City’s budget and policy decisions.

Mayor Yemi said community feedback is vital to shaping the plan and the City will continue to host periodic, telephone town halls to increase engagement from the public. Strategic priorities outlined in the plan include; public safety, community activation, infrastructure, economic vitality, and housing solutions.

Chief Adrian Vasquez of the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) also spoke at the press conference regarding the need for more officers and improving response times. Chief Vasquez said in addition to staffing, one of the ways CSPD is working to improve its response to various incidents across the City is through technology.

“One of the things that fire and police use is drones. Drones are one of the technologies we can use [to] assess the situation,” said Chief Vasquez who further explained that with drones, CSPD can either clear a call for service very quickly or figure out how many officers are needed at a particular incident.
