(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Local business Rampart Roofing is celebrating its 15th birthday by giving back to the community in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity.

On Monday, July 22, Rampart Roofing donated a roof for a Habitat for Humanity build, the home was specifically designated for a veteran in need.

According to Eric Wells, Construction Superintendent for Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity , the organization builds homes for veterans, military and ex-military members in need. Wells said this is the 5th home build for a veteran.

Rampart Roofing received the opportunity to collaborate with Habitat for Humanity through the Colorado Roofing Association. While all materials for the roofing were provided by GAF.

“This is Rampart Roofing’s third habitat for humanity build and our first veteran build,” said Samantha Constanzo with Rampart Roofing. “It is a great opportunity to assist families in need and to give back to the community.”

The home is located with other Habitat for Humanity builds, Wells said the development has 20 homes for families in need. In addition to building homes for veterans, Habitat for Humanity has a Repair Corps program that provides low to moderate-income homeowners with critical work repairs.

As for how Habitat for Humanity chooses a family, Constanzo explained the organization goes through its application process and finds a family who would benefit from that specific build.

Wells said Habitat for Humanity’s work is done by volunteers, from companies donating to volunteer opportunities to build the homes.

“The house’s frame, drywall, and a lot of other skills can be learned from donating here,” said Wells.

Constanzo reiterated Wells’s statement, by encouraging people to volunteer. “Everybody is basically welcome to assist Habitat for Humanity to assist with these sorts of builds,” added Constanzo.
