Panorama Park wins first People’s Choice Starburst Award

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Lottery said its Starburst Awards People’s Choice was awarded to Panorama Park in Colorado Springs which received the most votes after a month-long public vote.

This is the first The People’s Choice Starburst Award, which gave Lottery proceeds partners, players, and the public a chance to vote for their favorite Starburst Award winner.

The Starburst Award is given to projects for their excellence in using Lottery funds. Panorama Park is a 13.5-acre park that was redesigned in 2022, thanks in part to a $350,000 grant from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) funded in part with Colorado Lottery earnings. The $8.5 million project is now the largest recreation area near Colorado Springs, according to Colorado Lottery.

The public vote took place from June 15 to July 15, with 13 projects across the state getting around 16,000 votes. Panorama Park got 1,858 votes, second place was San Cristobal Island by just 52 votes, and in third place was the RESTORE Colorado initiative by another 70 votes.
