(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) turned to a local arborist for help rescuing a great horned owl that was caught in some string high up in a tree in Colorado Springs on Tuesday, July 23.

According to CPW, Wildlife Officers Travis Sauder and Deme McDowell responded on Tuesday to a call reporting an owl stuck in a tree. When they arrived, they found the owl was caught in some string and was hanging upside down high up in a tree.

CPW said the owl was too far up in the tree for the officers to reach, leaving them stumped as to how they could help the poor owl. That is, until they noticed Chase Hubert with Front Range Arborists trimming trees nearby, and sought his help.

Hubert was able to climb the tree and cut the owl loose! Watch below as Officer Sauder details the rescue operation with the rescue owl safe and sound:

CPW said the owl was brought safely down from the tree and sent to the Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center’s raptor center for rehabilitation.
