Terriers Hand Lions First Loss
CARTERVILLE – The Carterville Lions volleyball team took on the #12 ranked in 3A Carbondale Terriers in a non-conference matchup that led to the Lions first loss of the season. They fell in 2 sets, the first set being 25-19, with the second being 25-20. The Terriers came out of the gates hot, taking advantage of the unprepared Lions, getting out to 3-0 lead. The rest of the set was more of the same, the Lions were unable to claw back into set one, losing 25-19.

Twenty-three times, the driver that won the championship race at Springfield followed it up with a win in the Ted Horn 100 at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. Stock Car Sunday may be Ladies Day at DuQuoin Mile
DU QUOIN, IL–In the 101-year history of auto racing at the DuQuoin State Fair, no female driver has ever won a major automobile race. That includes the 78-year history of the Magic Mile which has hosted open wheel racing since 1946 and stock cars since 1950. History may change on Sunday, September 1 as at least three women pilots come to DuQuoin with dirt experience and top ten finishes on Illinois clay. The ARCA Menards 70th Southern Illinois 100 is scheduled for Sunday night on the historic Magic Mile of the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds.

Silver Crown Notes: Ted Horn 100 Up Next
DU QUOIN, Ill. — The USAC Silver Crown National Championship makes its annual pilgrimage to the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds for the Ted Horn 100 this weekend. The Ted Horn 100 dates to the year 1948 when the three-time AAA National champion in 1946, 1947 and 1948 and namesake of the race, lost his life on the very same Du Quoin track.

Kansas City Stays Undefeated With 2-0 Win Over Southern Illinois
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In a battle of two unbeaten squads, Kansas City Women's Soccer (3-0-2) prevailed over Illinois State (2-1-2) in 2-0 fashion Thursday evening at Durwood Soccer Stadium.
