Challenge to Loch Arbour election dismissed
A lawsuit challenging the results of the Loch Arbour non-partisan municipal election has been dropped. “Over the past several days, the parties have engaged in settlement discussions to try and amicably resolve the case. We have been unable to come to mutually agreeable terms,” said attorney Scott Salmon, who told Superior Court Judge Linda Grasso Jones that they would still dismiss the case.

32-year-old motorcyclist dies in crash at N.J. intersection, police say
A motorcyclist died Tuesday night after he was involved in a crash at a Union County intersection, police said. An investigation showed that a motorcycle being driven by 32-year-old Rahway resident Justin Almenas was traveling west on Madison Hill Road in Clark shortly before 8 p.m., authorities said. He collided with a sedan that was making a left onto the road from Adams Street, according to a statement from the Clark Police Department.

A 37-year-old Toms River woman has been criminally charged after a wrong-way crash between her minivan and an SUV last week killed both a child passenger and the other driver. Sorah Tyner now faces two counts of vehicular homicide, as well as manslaughter, endangering the welfare of a child and assault by auto in connection with the deaths of 36-year-old Carolina Bonilla-Hernandez and a child in Tyner’s own vehicle, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer.

Big box store shopping in New Jersey just got smaller
In an ever ugly and sad trend another big box store announced that they are closing a chunk of their stores and trying to reorganize to stay above drowning in debt. National discount retailer Big Lots, with close to 1,400 stores nationally including twenty-seven in Monmouth and Ocean counties here in New Jersey, has announced that they are closing up to forty stores nationally and opening three more. Big Lots closed fifty-two stores in 2023 due to inferior performance.
